Scottish born Jan Hannah studied illustration and painting in Aberdeen. Initially she worked for the graphics department in Aberdeen council broadening her creative skill, followed by 15 years teaching in a variety of settings including colleges - working with young adults with challenging difficulties, the local prison, and mainstream art classes. Her extensive travels incorporated projects with less privileged children in India, and orphanages in Bulgaria. Her illustrations can be found in wildlife and botanical books.

Recently she has written and illustrated a Scottish themed picture book for young children incorporating her love for fauna and flora, published by Pegasus, due for release August 2024.
